So, you're thinking about studying abroad, but don't know how to start the process? Look no further! Follow this step-by-step guide to get all the information you need so you can begin your college experience abroad with ease.

Step 1:

Visit to get a basic overview of Bay State's Study Abroad Program.

Step 2:

Fill out a Study Abroad Application and return it to The Office of Student Involvement & Leadership. Kristin Staine is the main contact for all those interested in going abroad, and the application helps give her a better understanding of when and where you are interested in going abroad.

Step 3:

Meet with The Office of Student Involvement & Leadership. Each student's case is different depending on where they are in their college career - i.e. are you in your third year and want to go next semester, or are you a first-year student who's interested in planning ahead for your third year at the college? Each meeting is an individualized conversation for each student. They may encourage you to take another semester to get your GPA up or inform you that dates for a year out have yet to be published.

Step 4:

Meet with your Academic Advisor to ensure that you are fulfill the GPA Requirements. All students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher to be eligible for the Study Abroad Program. Students also must have been enrolled in at least one semester or parent term at the Bay State College.

Step 5:

Get Clearance from the Department of Student Affairs and Financial Aid. In terms of financially being able to go abroad, each student's package differs and loans are evaluated on a case by case basis. Students do not pay BSC tuition while abroad, but you do pay the fees set forth by the third-party company and/or international university.

Step 6:

Decide what works best for you! Once you have been cleared by all the necessary offices, you can finally decide how you would like to go abroad. Bay State College has partnerships with a few different sister schools, although CIS Abroad is also an excellent option.  It is Bay State's largest Study Abroad partner, but it also takes students from all over the country and has the most partnerships throughout the world. Students can visit their table at both the Fall and Spring Involvement Fairs. Again, you can explore all the possible schools and programs pertaining to your major at
