Meet Rob Passmore, Veteran & Military Affiliated Benefits Coordinator

Rob Passmore is a proud UConn Alum (’88) with a BA in Spanish and Political Science. Rob enlisted as a Senior Airman in the CTANG in 1986 and left the service as a Captain in 1996 after multiple deployments. Coming from a family with a long military history and many ties to UConn, he also refers to himself as an "Army brat,” having moved from country to country during his Father’s Army career, where he became fluent in Spanish. Prior to joining BSC, Rob worked at the Veterans Affairs and Military Programs office at UConn. Rob brings with him a deep commitment to continuing his family’s tradition of service, through his work with the Veterans at BSC and his involvement with Team Rubicon, a veteran-based disaster relief organization.

"In an effort to better serve veteran learners at BSC,  I am going to rely on you for information on your needs, required improvements, and future innovations, but most importantly your honest and straightforward answers about what works and what does not. My charge is to build a student veterans group, develop a community service program, and increase veteran enrollment at Bay State among many things." -Rob Passmore

Here's what you can do:

  1. Reach out to me and make an appointment.  Let’s sit and trade deployment stories, and let’s review your current benefits and be sure you are using them in the most efficient way possible, and then we can talk about Stars and Stripes, Terminal Lance, your favorite MRE, or your worst BX or PX story, or how you either loved or hated your Drill Sgt.  While I am currently working remotely, I am always available to you through MS Teams appointments and email at Rpassmore@baystate.edu.
  2. Brainstorm – tell me what would you like to see at Bay State College – be realistic, but reach far and hard, remember that the answer is always NO unless you ask the question. This is where you can improve and transform the Veteran experience for your brothers and sisters that follow you at Bay State.
  3. Excel. Continue to use your mission-driven service experience as you excel in whatever fields you have chosen to pursue. Bay State and I have made a commitment to support you to the best of our abilities.
