Early College

High school students can earn high school and college credits simultaneously while gaining familiarity with the college experience through Bay State College's High School Early College program.

Students can take classes at Bay State College and attend the course(s) during the regular school day, after school in the evening, or online. Each class, taught by college Professors with real-world experience, is eight to sixteen weeks long while AP (Advanced Placement) classes at high schools can take up the whole year. Earn credits that apply to a degree program at Bay State College.

Who can participate?

Early College is open to high school juniors and seniors at partnering high schools and high schools seniors that have applied to Bay State College. All students must be in good academic standing and meet the Early College requirements:

High School Early College Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a junior or senior enrolled at an accredited U.S. high school or in an accredited home school program.
  • Must be a junior or senior enrolled at a dual enrollment partnering high school or a high school senior that has applied to Bay State College.
  • Complete the Online Non-Degree High School Early College Application
  • Submit a current Official High School transcript indicating a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants whose cumulative GPA is below 2.50 may be considered by the High School Early College Program committee; in which case additional supporting materials would be required for consideration.
  • Complete the required English admissions placement tests.
    • All applicants to the High School Early College program must complete the English placement assessment.
    • To be eligible to participate in the Early College, students MUST place into English 101 or higher on the Wonderlic English placement test.
  • Submit the High School Early College program disclosure that includes student, high school designee and parent/guardian signatures.
  • Approval of Bay State College High School Early College program committee to participate in the program.

How do I enroll?

Partnering high schools will distribute Early College information, including how to apply, testing requirements, and registration information. Students should ask their high school counselors for more information.

High school seniors who have already applied to Bay State College should contact their admissions representative for testing requirements, and registration information.

What is the cost of tuition?

There are no upfront tuition costs associated with the Bay State Early College. Students that complete courses through Early College and matriculate to a degree seeking student (and graduate from a Bay State College program) will receive the credit at no cost. Students seeking to transfer credits earned at Bay State College to another college or university should contact the other institution to which they seek admission to inquire into that institution’s policies on transfer credit acceptance.
