Bay State College Launches New Cybersecurity Concentrations

Bay State College expands offerings for students with MCI NIST Risk Management Framework

BOSTON, MA, October 1, 2018 – To meet the 3.5-million projected global shortfall of job-ready cybersecurity professionals, Bay State College continues to expand its emphasis on hands-on cybersecurity education in its Criminal Justice, Information Technology, and Management programs by launching an affiliation with Mission Critical Institute (MCI).

With MCI’s extensive lab-based tools, Bay State College students will graduate job-ready with expertise in applying the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework, FedRAMP and vulnerability management tools. Designed with adult students in mind, Bay State College’s curriculum enables students to work full-time as they earn their degree. Upon completion of five cloud-security risk management courses, students receive the hands-on CCRMP certification and lab-based preparation for the CEH, CISSP and CAP certifications.

“This new series of courses provide Bay State College professors the ability to integrate the MCI lab-based tools. These tools are based on recommended industry standards and cloud/cyber security risk management best practices developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST),” said Dr. William Carroll, VP of Academics, Bay State College. “With the addition of these concentrations to Bay State College’s robust academic offerings, students gain valuable and practical NIST Risk Management Framework and FedRAMP experience, prepare for multiple certifications, earn a hands-on cloud risk management certification, and progress toward leadership positions.”

Students will participate in practical labwork, online instruction and mentoring from faculty members who are practitioners and experts in their respective fields.

“Bay State College has established a leadership position in lab-based cybersecurity education with its mobile and digital forensics labs. MCI is excited to help continue this expansion by licensing its lab-based cybersecurity risk management tools and to authorize Bay State College to prepare students for the CCRMP certification we sponsor.” said V. N. Berlin, Ph.D., MCI president. “This alignment of the two organizations enable adult learners to rapidly become job-ready for rapidly expanding cybersecurity risk management employment opportunities. “

According to Carroll, “Incorporating MCI’s unique cybersecurity risk management materials greatly benefits Bay State College students, as well as employers seeking job-ready cyber and cloud risk management candidates.”
