PTA Students Host Workshop as Part of Service Learning Project
March 18, 2017
On Saturday, March 18th, three PTA students ran a workshop at the Weymouth Club as part of their service learning project entitled, "Active Aging Awareness: Balance, Posture, and Self Reliance".
Thirty-four participants between the ages of 59 and 92 attended. The students focused on the benefits of good posture and provided tips on improving posture and balance; they demonstrated and had participants perform exercises that they could safely and independently perform at home. Participants were provided with a goodie bag containing a water bottle, a snack bar, an exercise handout, and a Theraband.
All in all, it was a successful day, and participants showed their appreciation and commented that they had either been doing the exercises incorrectly for decades, or that they understood for the first time why each exercise was important.
