June 23, 2015
Bay State College today announced that Senthil Kumar, D.B.A, has been appointed the next vice president of enrollment management of the institution, effective July 6, following a national search.
Dr. Kumar has a proven track record and demonstrated success in university admissions, recruitment, strategic marketing, student services, new program development, international operations and brings over 13 years of enrollment management experience to Bay State College.
“I am honored to have been selected to lead enrollment management at Bay State College and look forward to collaborating with admissions, financial aid, faculty, and the leadership team to develop a bold, and compelling strategic enrollment management framework as the institution responds to an increasingly challenging economic landscape, and an intensely competitive higher education environment,” said Dr. Kumar.
In his role at Bay State College, Dr. Kumar will report to the President, serve as a member of the Institution’s Executive Team and assume responsibility for the Office of Enrollment Management. He will oversee all operations of recruitment, admissions, and financial aid, which includes the campuses of Boston, MA; Taunton, MA and the online division.
Dr. Kumar joins Bay State College from the National Graduate School (NGS), where he is currently the Dean of Enrollment Management. As the founding Dean, he streamlined and restructured the Office of Admissions (Undergraduate, Graduate, Doctoral & Online), implemented admissions policy processes and operational change initiatives impacting new admissions and recruitment processes, while instituting the philosophy of “Retention Begins with Recruitment.” Dr. Kumar executed innovative lead generation strategies and maximized enrollment yield through financial aid packaging policies. He also improved the quality of the applicant pool and doubled NGS undergraduate and graduate applications/enrollment within one year of undertaking the position. He recently led the complete architectural overhaul and redesign process of the NGS website.
Prior to his role at NGS, Dr. Kumar served as Director of Recruitment & Training for university admissions at Johnson & Wales University (JWU). He was part of a team that rolled out FOCUS 2011 strategic initiatives, where he produced multiple years of record enrollment, increasing international undergraduate and graduate enrollment to the highest levels in the institution’s history. He was also instrumental in developing the ‘PRE-MBA’ program at JWU. This program is designed for outstanding three-year international bachelor’s degree holders the opportunity through a ‘PRE-MBA’ program to equate their education to a four-year bachelor’s degree offered at JWU. During his service at his Alma Mater, Oklahoma City University (OCU), as Admissions Advisor, Dr. Kumar was responsible for the admissions and credential evaluation for the Meinders School of Business (MSB), where he increased the overall academic profile of new students enrolling to MSB and developed multiple 2+2 and 3+1 articulation agreements with outstanding business schools across the globe.
“Senthil brings a depth of knowledge in the area of enrollment management that will allow the College to prosper and grow new student enrollment,” said Craig F. Pfannenstiehl, President of Bay State College. “We welcome his innovative approach to enrollment management and his passion and enthusiasm for this role as we set out to be the private college of choice in Boston.”
