Fashion Industry Program Overview

Having a business background is always in fashion – just ask today’s employers. With this unique Fashion Industry Management concentration, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the fashion industry, while also getting a solid foundation in all aspects of business management. 

Learn about consumer behavior as it applies to design and market research. Study the impact of globalization on the fashion industry. Analyze retail management theories and techniques through class discussion. And more:

Fashion Program Mission 

The mission of the Fashion Industry Program at Bay State College is to provide the highest-quality fashion education, centered on the development of critical thinking, business knowledge, and practical design and merchandising skills, to empower our graduates to pursue successful and meaningful careers in the fashion industry. 

Fashion Program Learning Outcomes 

  1. Develop students’ ability to use critical thinking and analytical skills to synthesize information from multiple sources and be able to make informed business decisions. 
  2. Develop in students a set of ethical and legal standards when making managerial decisions in retail and fashion organizations. 
  3. Develop students’ ability to use technology to create reports and gain presentation skills to communicate relevant information to internal and external stakeholders. 
  4. Provide students the opportunity to work in groups to define managerial problems, determine alternatives, and implement solutions. 
  5. Provide students with knowledge of the different types of economies in a changing global environment and how to react to opportunities in that world. 
  6. Provide students the opportunity to develop broad-based decision models and understand current business and fashion trends.

Fashion Design Minor 

Learn how to take a design from concept to finished garment. This optional minor guides you to become not only a designer with your own creative vision, but also a business professional prepared to take your place in this challenging industry. 

  • Design menswear, women’s sportswear, costumes and haute couture evening and wedding gowns to better understand your personal aesthetic

Fashion Degree Accreditation 

Bay State College is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). 

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accredits schools and colleges in the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont). Membership in one of the six regional accrediting associations in the United States indicates that the school or college has been carefully evaluated and found to meet the standards agreed upon by qualified educators.
