The Accuplacer Placement Test consists of an online portion which covers Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, College Algebra and Arithmetic and is followed by a written essay. All sections and the essay must be completed in order for the test to be scored accurately. The Accuplacer Placement Test is NOT TIMED. Therefore, students should take as much time as is needed to be sure they have answered all questions to the best of their ability. Please follow the links below for an explanation of the test and a sample practice test.

For Registered Students Only

All first-year students begin the Common Reading Program by reading and writing about a common book before arriving on campus in September for First Year Experience (FYE). Then, during FYE, students, staff, and faculty share an exciting intellectual conversation about the book and its themes and ideas. The Program provides first year students with a clear sense of what to expect at Bay State in terms of critical thinking, effective communication, and the spirit of inquiry that exist both in and out of the classroom.

This year's common reading book is The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.
