Bay State College Students Organize Benefit Concert at the Brighton Music Hall

December 29, 2011

BOSTON, MA – November 18, 2011 - On Thursday, December 8, 2011, students from Bay State College’s Entertainment Management program will be holding a special benefit concert at the Brighton Music Hall to raise money and awareness for the Community Music Center of Boston. This event marks the first time this landmark club and a local college have partnered in a service learning project.

One hundred percent of the profits from the Rock for a Reason show will be donated to the Community Music Center of Boston, an organization dedicated to providing low or no cost music programs for individuals and groups with diverse backgrounds. Bay State College’s Event Management class is honored to have this unique opportunity to show support for the Community Music Center of Boston and their mission to provide excellent music education to individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds, ages, and abilities.

“Hosting an event at the Brighton Music Hall as a class project is an educational experience which few students have a chance to take part in,” said Professor Jess White. “The opportunity to put on this event and provide funding and education to future musicians and arts programs is amazing.”

The event has been organized, from start to finish by the Entertainment Management students in Bay State College’s Event Management class. Everything from renting the venue and booking the artists to organizing financials and marketing the event, the students have had 100% hands on experience.

Rock for a Reason will be headlined by The Indobox, a five-piece “adventure rock” band from Boston, MA.   Also on the bill is Dear Zim,a pop band lead by David Westerhout, a Berklee College of Music student. The event will also feature guest speakers and student performers from the Community Music Center of Boston. The show will be held at the Brighton Music Hall at 158 Brighton Avenue. Doors open at 7:00 pm, the show begins at 8:00.
