Robin Carmody

Background

In addition to chairing the Early Childhood Education program at Bay State College Professor Carmody teaches a number of courses, including Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Children’s Literature, Methods and Approaches, The Exceptional Child, Child Care Management and Administration, and Nutrition.

Professor Carmody's experience extends beyond the classroom. Prior to Bay State College, Professor Carmody was a center co-director for eleven years. She's a former NAEYC validator, and a regional presenter for workshops on Toddler Biting.

In addition, Professor Carmody has co-authored a three part blog on child development for the United Way. She presented a workshop on Language Immersion  at the (NACCTEP) National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs conference, and was one of thirty instructors nationally selected by NASA to attend their (FINESSE) Faculty Institute for NASA Earth and Space Science Education conference in Nevada. Professor Carmody was selected after writing how Early Childhood Education relates to NASA.

Interests & Hobbies

Professor Carmody's interests include researching old west US history and photography. Her research was credited in two recently published western history books with regard to Agnes Lake Hickok, wife of the lawman James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok.

In the summer, Professor Carmody can be found in South Dakota, working in a museum in the city of Deadwood. She is currently researching Agnes Hickok; and children and their education in earlier centuries. Professor Carmody spends her free time quilting, sewing and knitting donations for her favorite charities.
