Peter Plourde

Background

Professor Plourde teaches a variety of courses at Bay State College including, Convention Promotion & Services, Sports Entertainment, Algebra, Statistics, Music Entertainment, Venue Management, American Music in the 20th Century, and a variety of independent studies.

He has been a rapper and lyricist with published records since 1997. He has taught well over 50 sections of mathematics in less than 5 years of college teaching and has taught a multitude of entertainment and music courses at over 8 different colleges. 

Professor Plourde co-founded the Mass Industry Committee in Boston, Massachusetts and he has promoted hundreds of shows, concerts, award shows and other events all around the Greater Boston area. He continues to work towards becoming a better educator and recently has become certified to teach online.

Interests and Hobbies

Professor Plourde has been featured in a multitude of local and national media stories regarding his own blending of passions into a career that has been focused around teaching mathematics and music courses, all the while continuing to perform as a Hip Hop artist known professionally as “Lyrical” (or Professor Lyrical).  He speaks and performs regularly at institutions of higher learning and appears at many educational events as a guest speaker and/or panelist. In the future he looks toward developing coursework and programming that combines mathematics and music as a way to better teach students, and especially to help reach traditionally under-served students.
