Caroline Kautsire

Background

Professor Caroline Kautsire is originally from Malawi, Africa and she graduated from Brown University with an M.A. in English Literature and Language.  She also received her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where she was one of the nominees for the prestigious John F. Kennedy Award and the recipient for the Francis Russell Hart prize. While at UMass Boston, she worked for the Calderwood Writing Initiative at Snowden High School in Boston. Professor Kautsire is also an actress and director for many local theaters in Massachusetts.

Professor Kautsire teaches English, Literature, Public Speaking and Drama for Bay State College.

Interests & Hobbies

Caroline is currently Advisor and Stage Director for the Bay State College Drama Club.  Professor Kautsire has acted in several Shakespearean plays and her favorite roles include Rosalind in As you Like it, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Olivia in Twelfth Night. She has also performed in several modern musicals, such as “Rent” and “Hairspray.” 

On the production end, Professor Kautsire has directed The Reduced Shakespeare Company’s The Compleat Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and has both directed and performed in Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues.  She also stage managed Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit for The Company Theatre in Norwell, Massachusetts.
